Dan and colleagues installed an EV charger at our property this week and we are really pleased. From start to finish, great communication, very responsive, and we’re very happy with the result! Would recommend.

Our inverter packed up and I phoned Dan who came the next day to assess my system. He recommended a Fox inverter and came the day after and installed it. I was impressed not only with the speed, efficiency and friendliness of Dan but also, for the first time in fifteen years, I can see everything that’s going on with the Fox app which he fully integrated with all the devices. An excellent job well done and I highly recommend Royston Solar Solutions. Clive.

Outstanding experience from start to finish. RSS provided a professional and detailed quotation, excellent advice and consultation, and clear communication throughout the entire process. The installation was completed efficiently (3 days E2E), on schedule, and to a very high standard.

We used Royston Solar Solutions for a full solar, battery and EV charger installation, and Daniel was brilliant from start to finish. He clearly knows his stuff – he took the time to understand exactly what we wanted to achieve and customised the build accordingly rather than pushing a off-the-shelf solution as we had a more complex set up. Communication throughout was excellent: prompt, clear, and honest. He was also genuinely flexible around our schedule and any changes along the way. You’re paying for expertise and integrity, and in my view that’s exactly the right trade-off for something like this. Highly recommended.

We recently contacted Dan at Royston Solar Solutions, on making that call in the afternoon Dan returned our call the same day and came round late that afternoon after breaking away from his daily schedule. We already had 12 Solar panels fitted and was looking to upgrade our system by installing a 10kw solar battery pack. Dan spent around one hour surveying our system and advised us that we could upgrade our 12 panels by producing more from our system. The quote we received was very competitive, we found Dan very knowledgeable and clear regarding our needs. The work was completed in the given time to a very high standard, and we were kept informed throughout every stage of the installation. After the installation we are very pleased with the performance and production of the whole system and aftercare.

Royston Solar Solutions Review. A First Class Company, with so many Solar Installation companies advertising I found Daniel to be honest and reliable, I would certainly recommend this company if your looking for anything to do with Solar energy including Battery. Very knowledgeable. In this day and age it’s nice to come across a really genuine person like Daniel. Thank You – David Kiff.

Dan was brilliant from start to finish. He planned everything with us meticulously and even suggested a better layout, which allowed us to get 19 panels on the roof! We also had battery storage installed in the loft by him. He was very…

Dan and his team were excellent. They were very hardworking and very conscientious. He returned a couple of times post installation to check on and improve things. He was helpful to me in my planning as I live in a Letchworth heritage area.…

Great, very quick and efficient service from Dan. He came out the same day to give us a quote, and within three weeks the system has been fitted and we’re generating electricity! He explained everything very clearly, gave us a good value quote and did an excellent job with the fitting.

Dan was very knowledgeable and helpful from the outset. Dan kept us informed of when the panels were arriving, what we should be doing and arrived promptly to fit. Very professional service and full of advice and help when we asked. Definitely recommend.

Behind the reviews

What actually happened on three of these jobs

A star rating tells you very little on its own. What these three have in common is more useful: in each case the system that got installed wasn't the one the customer arrived with.

19 panels, not 14

We proposed a different roof layout to the one the customer had in mind, which fitted five more panels than the original plan allowed, with the battery storage tucked into the loft.

The cupboard stayed a cupboard

A Heritage Area property in Letchworth. Putting the battery and inverter in the loft meant no lost downstairs storage, and we called back twice afterwards to check everything was right.

Quoted same day, generating in three weeks

Survey, design, installation and commissioning, with the same people throughout and nobody in between you and the person doing the work.

Accreditations

The schemes that actually check

Certification is worth something only if the number is verifiable. Ours is.

MCS
Certificate NAP-32603, Solar PV
NAPIT
Registered competent person, Part P
HIES
Consumer protection & workmanship
TrustMark
Government endorsed quality scheme

What each one means

In plain English

MCS: certificate NAP-32603

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme certifies both the installer and the installation. It matters practically as well as reputationally: only an MCS certified installation qualifies for the Smart Export Guarantee, which is the mechanism by which your supplier pays you for exported electricity. Ours is issued through NAPIT, which is consistent with an electrical-first background: NAPIT is an electrical competent person scheme first and foremost.

NAPIT

Registration as a competent person for electrical work, meaning we can self-certify installations under Part P of the building regulations and notify building control directly rather than involving a third party.

HIES and TrustMark

HIES provides consumer protection including workmanship warranties and deposit protection. TrustMark is the government endorsed quality scheme covering work carried out in and around the home.

A word on checking: you can verify any MCS certificate number on the MCS website, and any TrustMark registration on theirs. We'd encourage you to do that with us and with anyone else you're getting a quote from, particularly if you see the phrase “MCS-ready”, which is not a certification status.

Where we work

Royston, and about half an hour around it

The customers behind these reviews are all local, which is rather the point. We're based in Meldreth, three miles outside Royston, and cover Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex and Bedfordshire from there: Royston, Melbourn, Baldock, Letchworth Garden City, Hitchin, Stevenage, Saffron Walden, Cambridge, Buntingford, Duxford and the villages in between. Close enough to come back if you ever need us.
