Privacy notice
How we handle the information you give us, and what your rights are.

Who we are
Royston Solar Solutions Limited (company number 14555879) is the data controller for the information described in this notice. Our registered office is c/o TC Thompson Taraz Rand, Suite 20, New Cambridge House, Bassingbourn Road, Litlington, Royston SG8 0SS. You can contact us at roystonsolarsolutions@outlook.com or on 07971 199 642.
What we collect
If you complete the enquiry form on this website, we collect the name, email address, telephone number and postcode you provide, along with the service you've selected and the content of your message. If you contact us by phone or email instead, we collect whatever information you choose to give us.
If you go on to become a customer, we'll also hold information relating to your property and installation: survey notes, system design, certification and warranty records.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To respond to your enquiry and provide a quotation. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: you've contacted us asking for a quote, and we can't provide one without your details.
- To perform a contract where you go ahead with an installation.
- To meet legal obligations, including the certification and record-keeping required under MCS, NAPIT and the building regulations.
We do not use your details for marketing unless you have separately asked us to, and we do not sell or share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only where it's necessary to do the job or where the law requires it. That can include the Distribution Network Operator for your area (UK Power Networks) for the mandatory G98 or G99 notification, the MCS certification body, our accreditation schemes, and our accountant. This website is hosted by Netlify, and enquiry form submissions are processed and stored on Netlify's infrastructure.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don't lead to work are kept for up to two years and then deleted. Records relating to completed installations are kept considerably longer, because warranty, certification and consumer code obligations require it, generally for the life of the workmanship warranty plus any statutory retention period.
Cookies
This website does not set any tracking or advertising cookies, and we do not use analytics that profile you across sites. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers to fetch them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask us to delete it where we have no continuing need to keep it, and to object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests. To exercise any of these, email us at roystonsolarsolutions@outlook.com.
If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
This notice is intended to be clear and accurate, but it's a general template rather than bespoke legal advice. If your circumstances change (taking payments online, adding analytics, or starting an email newsletter), it will need reviewing.
